Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy

I specialize in treating chronic pain and other mindbody symptoms using emerging treatments based on brain science. Recent research demonstrates that many forms of chronic pain are caused by neural pathways in the brain and not from structural problems in the body.

All pain comes from the brain but not all pain indicates damage to the body. Pain is a danger signal. It warns us of potential threats or damage and gets us to act. Sometimes the brain makes mistakes and can interpret danger where there is none. In other cases, pain can persist long after an injury has healed. This type of pain is called neural circuit pain and it is actually quite common.

Our first step together would be to determine that you have neural circuit pain. The good news is that neural circuit pain is treatable! We will work to change your relationship with your pain and your body.

I specialize in experiential therapy techniques. What this means is that unlike traditional therapy, we won’t just talk about your experiences. I am an active therapist and will encourage you to connect deeply with your core emotions to help you heal. We will work together to nonjudgementally identify and understand the patterns that keep you stuck and what gets in the way of what you want in life. I am a relational and attachment-oriented therapist, incorporating mind/body techniques to help you get in touch with your true self.

I began training in experiential psychotherapy in 2015. I’m a lifelong learner and continue to pursue further training and supervision in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).
